Following in the footsteps of Kim Dudley's petrifying tutorial for making a tombstone in Freehand, here is my offering from the Fireworks side. There are some neat things you can do in Freehand, but my head — err, hat — is off to Fireworks 8 for the way it can quickly add a three-dimensional element to a flat shape. Using textures to make vector shapes more realistic is also a strength of Fireworks, as those textures always remain editable. Add in gradient fills, and we've got a crypt full of scarifying tools.
