SQL injection is a technique used by hackers to break into your database. SQL Server has been a target because of the vast number of users who do not use it properly. The sad fact is, web developers are assuming all roles in the development of their web sites, and many of them do not have some simple understandings of how security works in a database. A compromised database can destroy your business, or at the very least, give you a few headaches and wasted time restoring from backups.
