
Page 1 of 4 If you're using Flash MX Professional 2004 (also dubbed Flash MX Pro), chances are you haven't touched the new data binding features, which enable you to add interactive behaviors between the components that Macromedia built. Data binding is one of the features that you won't find in the regular version of Flash MX 2004. Among other things, Flash MX Pro 2004 adds two tabs to the Component Inspector: Bindings (Figure 1) and Schema (Figure 2).
NOTE: Some tutorials and articles refer to "data binding" in Flash MX 2004 as the general principle of attaching a data provider (e.g., an array of names, ids, or records) to a component. In this tutorial, data binding refers to the more visually-focused workflow that uses the new Binding and Schema tabs of the Component Inspector. I refer to this type of workflow as "visual binding."
