A new software release is always kind of exciting, but with the release of products like Fireworks and Dreamweaver, it's even better. Not only can you expect new goodies in the application itself, but you can expect extension developers to create other cool commands and tools for the applications.

Fireworks CS3 has only been out for a short time, and already there is an impressive list of new extensions we can make use of. This article will outline some of those extensions and point you to where you can find them.

And did I mention that all these extensions and commands are FREE?

At the Adobe Fireworks Developers Center you can find a whole whack of cool stuff for FW CS3 in the downloads area.

Flash Panels

Several new Flash Command Panels have been created to make your design work even easier to complete:

Color Palette panel

Color Palette panel by Viktor Goltvyanitsa

Complete with a detailed tutorial, Victor's new Color Palette panel is a great addition to color control in Fireworks, an area where the app has always been pretty weak. You can define color values, blend colors in different ways, and swap color schemes using this updated command panel.

Guides panel

The Guides panel gives you pixel perfect control of Guides and even lets you save custom Guide settings. This panel also comes with a very in-depth tutorial.

Gradient panel

Gradient panel by Grant Hinkson

I love this one and have mentioned it in previous articles. The degree of control you get over gradients is fantastic. You can create or edit complex gradients with a a great deal of precision previously not available in Fireworks.

FW to XAML panel

Move your existing Fireworks artwork quickly to your Windows Presentation Foundation projects. Fireworks layouts can be translated directly to XAML using this panel.

Super Guides

Super Guides 1.0 by Steven Grosvenor

Super Guides has been available for several versions of FW and still works with Fireworks CS3. You can create isometric illustrations of any size, angle, and opacity. Included is a user guide (PDF) to get you started.
