Macromedia Launches Flex 1.0

Posted by Paul Newman

Macromedia today announced the official launch of Flex 1.0 presentation server.

Macromedia Flex is an enterprise solution that installs on J2EE application servers, such as JRun, Tomcat, and even ColdFusion MX 6.1 Enterprise. Flex enables code-centric developers to generate Rich Internet Applications (i.e., Flash SWF files) on the fly using a combination of ActionScript and MXML tags. You can order the trial version of Flex on CD for $8.99. After 60 days, the trial version converts to developer mode and is limited to 5 named IP addresses. The Flex installer includes an option to install JRun 4, if you do not already have a Java application server.
